To the Brink: JFK and the Cuban Missile Crisis Exhibit App

Jul 11, 2013

The 2013 JFK Library and Museum exhibit “To the Brink: JFK and the Cuban Missile Crisis” now has a virtual partner on the iPad. Anytime, anywhere, people will be able to experience this extraordinary moment in history.

With “To the Brink: JFK and the Cuban Missile Crisis,” The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) has made its JFK Library and Museum 2013 exhibit virtual, bringing the app to iPad. This app brings the Cuban Missile Crisis exhibit alive, providing a video series timeline, portraying the events of the historic presidential moments. Additionally, the app supplements the videos with officially released presidential documents, photos, and audio recordings which are shown at the exhibit.

Upon opening the app, the user is shown a page with an arrow on the right hand side. The subsequent thirteen pages make up the most important events within the timeline of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Each page provides an overview of the event, supplemented with background information, photos, documents, and videos.

This app allows for the experience of the exhibit to be given to those who are not able to physically attend.
